Sell your ticket in Lagos

Can’t make the concert, party or match anymore? You can resell your ticket on Ventril: verify your NIN once, upload the ticket, set your price, and the buyer pays through Ventril, which holds the money until after the event. It costs 12% of your price (₦150 minimum), and you choose whether the buyer pays that on top or it comes out of your payout.

How to sell your ticket on Ventril

Selling to a stranger on Instagram or WhatsApp usually means the buyer wants you to send the ticket first and you want them to pay first. On Ventril neither of you has to go first: the buyer pays Ventril, and Ventril pays you after the event. Here’s the whole process.

  1. 01Create an account and verify your NIN. You only do this once.
  2. 02Add a payout bank account in the same name as your NIN.
  3. 03Create a listing: choose the event, set your price and decide who pays the fee.
  4. 04Upload your ticket file. If your ticket is sent through the organiser’s app instead, you upload proof of the transfer.
  5. 05A person reviews your listing. Once it’s approved, it goes live for buyers.
  6. 06When it sells, Ventril holds the buyer’s payment and releases it to your bank account after the event.

What it costs to resell a ticket

The fee is 12% of your price, with a minimum of ₦150. When you create the listing, you choose whether the buyer pays the fee on top of your price or it comes out of your payout.

For example, on a ₦50,000 ticket the fee is ₦6,000. If the buyer pays it, they pay ₦56,000 and you receive ₦50,000. If you take it from your payout, they pay ₦50,000 and you receive ₦44,000. On a ₦1,000 ticket, 12% would be ₦120, so the ₦150 minimum applies.

Free tickets can be listed too, and there’s no fee on them. Buyers claim them, one per person per event.

When you get paid

Your payout is released at 12:00 noon Lagos time on the day after the event starts, as long as no dispute is open. If the buyer taps “I got in” before then, you’re paid sooner.

So if the event starts on Saturday night, your money is released at noon on Sunday. If your ticket is sent through the organiser’s app, the payout waits for the buyer to confirm the ticket arrived.

If a buyer opens a dispute, the money stays with Ventril until a person has reviewed both sides.

Why we ask for your NIN

The hardest part of selling a ticket to a stranger in Lagos is convincing them you’re not a scammer. Buyers have been burned by fake vendor pages and screenshots sold five times over, so many won’t pay someone they don’t know.

Every seller on Ventril verifies their NIN before they can list, and the payout account has to be in the same name. That ties every listing to a real, identified person, which is what lets a buyer pay you without knowing you. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Which tickets you can list

Check your event’s terms before you list. Some organisers don’t allow resale; Flytime Fest’s terms, for example, ban reselling wristbands. If the organiser refuses a resold ticket at the gate, the buyer can dispute and you may not be paid.

  • Tickets you hold as a file you can upload, such as an e-ticket with a QR code.
  • Tickets sent through an organiser’s app, where you upload proof of the transfer.
  • Free tickets, with no fee.
  • One ticket per listing. Selling two? Create two listings.
  • Any price you choose. There’s no cap, and buyers can make you an offer if they think it’s high.
  • Only tickets you haven’t sold anywhere else. Duplicate ticket files are flagged.

If the buyer raises a dispute

A buyer can open a dispute between the start of the event and noon the next day, and they have to attach evidence. A person reviews both sides, including anything you send, before deciding whether the buyer is refunded or you’re paid. The buyer’s word alone doesn’t decide it.

If the buyer is refunded, the money comes from the payment Ventril was holding, so nobody has to chase you for it. Accounts that break the rules can be suspended.

Questions people ask

Where can I sell my ticket in Nigeria?

Most people post on Instagram, WhatsApp or X, which costs nothing but leaves the buyer worried you’re a scammer and you worried they won’t pay. A resale marketplace that holds the payment, such as Ventril, removes that standoff. Our comparison of ticket resale options in Nigeria sets out the choices.

How do I sell a concert ticket I can’t use?

Verify your NIN, add a payout account in the same name, then create a listing with your price and upload the ticket. A person reviews it, it goes live, and you’re paid after the event.

Can I sell my ticket for more than I paid?

Ventril doesn’t cap prices, so you can set any price. Check your organiser’s terms first, because some restrict resale. Buyers can also make offers below your price, which you can accept or ignore.

Do I still get paid if the buyer doesn’t show up?

Yes. If no dispute is open by noon Lagos time the day after the event starts, your payout is released. Tickets sent through the organiser’s app are the exception: that payout waits for the buyer to confirm the ticket arrived.

Can buyers negotiate the price?

Buyers can make an offer on your listing. You decide whether to accept it.
